Prepares lifeguard candidates in the skills and knowledge necessary to respond to aquatic emergencies, including CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid, and preventing disease transmission with a focus on decision-making, escape techniques, and backboard techniques.
Prerequisites: Candidates must provide proof that they will be 15 years old before course completion. Must be able to pass a pre-course swim test: swim 300 yards continuously, using 200 yds of front crawl with rhythmic breathing and 100 yds of breaststroke. Must swim 20 yds using front crawl or breast stroke, dive 7 to 10 ft, retrieve 10lb object, return to surface and swim 20 yds back to starting point with both hands on the object and face above water, exit the pool without using a ladder or steps within 1 minute and 40 seconds. A $50 fee will be assessed for any student failing to meet the course pre-requisites. There are no Lifeguard Training classes available at this time. Please call 1-800-777-6620 for more information.
